Casey Jo Burrows

Casey Jo Burrows began her training at Golden Triangle Karate in Conrad, MT alongside her mother and sister. Casey received the honorary rank of Shodan in 2015. As her instructor, Claude Smith, put it, "Most people are here on this earth to learn and grow. Casey was here to teach."

Everyone who met Casey learned something from her. She taught by example. She was courageous in the face of everything thrown at her, and didn't back down. She lived her life to the fullest, and pursued her dreams even when there were huge road blocks in front of her. In the midst of fighting cancer she graduated high school with a 4.0 GPA, traveled across the country, made a modeling portfolio, and devoted time to learning culinary techniques and the French language. Casey Jo had an undeniable warrior spirit and lived out each of the pieces of the dojo kun in her every day life.

Casey Jo Burrows will forever be in our hearts and will always be a guiding star for UKAI Midwest karateka.

“I’m a Shotokan tiger with an aggressive kick-cancer-in-the-butt attitude, with a sweet side.” -Casey Jo Burrows
